Consider this our textile studio, combining Japanese craftsmanship with American style. In our CDG cardigan program, we avoid the cheap, static-laden synthetic acrylic blends found in fast fashion. Rather, we select premium, long-staple Japanese worsted wool. This results in a mid-weight, highly breathable, natural knit. Your cardigan will retain deep hues and elastic structure. Compare that to the typical fast fashion cardigan that stretches, thin, and pills after a few wears.
Pilling and fuzzing resistance: due to low surface friction, our long-staple worsted fibers shed and mat the least.
Mother-of-Pearl fasteners: real product, real buttons. Finished with heavy, set, and durable mother-of-pearl, our buttons will not crack and replace all cheap, fractured, plastic buttons.
Worsted Wool Long-Staple Fibers: High-Grade Japanese Yarns vs. Friction-Prone Synthetic Acrylic Blends
Surface Friction Analysis: Our Solutions to Knit Pilling, Fuzzing, and Fiber Shedding of Luxury Cardigans

Join us in our new textile durability masterclass. With our cutting edge Tokyo engineering, we provide solutions to the most prevalent frustrations of the American wardrobe. When we release our signature CDG cardigan collection, we are tackling fabric wear at the fiber level. The majority of commercially available sweaters utilize short, loosely packed synthetic fibers. This creates surface fuzzing. our garments are made from long, tightly twisted Japanese worsted wool to ensure your daily layers remain looking clean and structured, and are durable.
Tightly Spun Worsted Yarns: Long, combed, and raw wool twisted strands eliminate the loose fiber ends that cause fuzzing.
Dense Interlocking Knit Scales: Our high-density knitted surface is maintained with pill-resistant fibers.
Hardware Construction: Authentic Mother-of-Pearl Button Fasteners vs. Molded Plastic Substitutes
Welcome to our official trim workshop. Here, you’ll see how premium hardware choice elevates our heritage items beyond what standard commercial garments can offer. CDG cardigans offer something different from the mass-market product beyond the main yarn structure; we place a lot of focus on the fasteners as well. Mass-market cardigans use cheap, thin plastic buttons that break under tension and detract from the overall quality of the garment. Unfortunately those plastic buttons are the only game in the mass market. To prevent that, we use individually cut authentic mother-of-pearl button discs. Each button loop we provide on our cardigans is a statement of luxury craftsmanship.
Natural Shell Iridescence: Mother-of-pearl fasteners still maintain the aesthetics of a natural product. Fasteners made from plastic are inferior when it comes to their look.
Heavy-Duty Cross-Stitch Anchoring: We ensure our buttons will be fast and decorative for the everyday consumer by sewing them on to the placket of the garment with extra tension to face wear.
Emblem Applique Integrity: High-Density vs. Loose Thread Reproductions

Welcome to the official icons studio, where meticulous graphic artistry fuses with a real world mastery of American streetwear. Each individual CDG cardigan we craft is a luxury piece, and as such, we consider our branding applications to be permanent. Offering only the best, we pull away from temporary, low quality prints and synthetic patches that will fray. Instead, we present to our nation a style statement that is integrated permanently, using Pagowski’s embroidered bug-eyed heart logo, and guaranteed to last using the best materials.
High-Density Stitch Counts: Loose threads don’t exist here. Our patches stem heritage, with totally solid yarn fills, and crisp black borders.
Flawless Applique Anchoring: Each heart is woven and then embroidered flush against the premium wool and stays there.
Silhouette Architecture: The Tokyo V-Neck Drop Depth vs. Traditional Western Boxy Knit Cuts
Welcome to our geometry workshop. Tokyo’s cutting techniques are bold and innovative in their juxtaposition against the softly laid American lines. The framework around our stand out CDG cardigan is cut using the same techniques as those innovative Tokyo techniques, and are a world away from the mass produced cutters’ blocks. The American high-end, casual wear wardrobe is sharp and structured, with an elevated profile. This is achieved through a higher armhole placement, a slim-cut chest, and a well thought out neckline. An architecture centric approach rests in sharp contrast to an approach of generic, slouchy drape that ultimately complements the layers of a modern wardrobe.
Some kudos to the Tokyo V-Neck Drop Depth: We designed the collar to be a bit higher and more compact. It frames shirts and tees and does not sag.
Goes with the Structured Shoulder Frame: Our sleeves are cut and sewn to the true shoulder line. Gone is the sloppy, oversized drop, built into standard Western box cuts.
Logos will not warp or wrinkle after washes either.
Thermal Performance: Breathable Natural Wool Insulation vs. Moisture-Trapping Synthetic Layering Blends

This is a climate engineering lab. It combines with the premium raw materials and the daily changing climate of America. The CDG cardigan is a prime example of us considering the environment and how materials will continue to function. An example of poor mass-production are sweaters made from low-cost, low-quality acrylic, and a blend of unsweaterable materials. These feel terrible, scratchy, and cause sweating and overheating. This is a situation we aim to solve using long-staple Japanese worsted wool. This brings us breathable, lightweight, and insulative wool.
Active Moisture Management: Our Japanese worsted wool pulls humidity away maintaining a breathable, lightweight, and insulative wool.
Natural Elasticity and Loft: Tightly spun wool loops trap air pockets to insulate without bulk.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What makes the Comme des Garçons Cardigan not fluffy and instead only firm and a little crispy?

A: Our Cardigans are made from plush Japanese long-staple worsted wool that does not need to be brushed. In contrast to low quality yarns, our Cardigans retain their shape and structure. The Cardigan will keep its shape without pulling and will not lose structure. The fibers will reshape to the bodies of the wearers after a few wears and will not break down.
Q: What makes the CDG Play Cardigans authentic, and why do the buttons not crack?
A: Our buttons are made from high quality mother of pearls and are stitched directly to the Cardigan. Unlike the cheap plastic of other brands, we use a cross-stitch method to secure our buttons. Our buttons will remain flat and fasten for years to come.
Q: What size should I buy for a CDG cardigan as a US customer?
A: All our knitwear follows classic Tokyo style patterns, which cut higher armholes, a narrower chest, and a shorter waist compared to standard American cuts. As a sure fit for most US customers, we suggest selecting one size larger than your US size. However, to achieve a relaxed, oversized, and loose layering, we suggest selecting two sizes larger.
